  I recently saw a video of Paul Stamets talking about mushrooms and how they increase connections in the brain. I think I remember hearing the term myelination thrown in there somewhere. Granted I don't know enough about him to say that hes a credible source. But, it would be a good place to start (research). Its a shame that the science community seems to steer clear of certain topics entirely.
