I am unsure if this is the incident that they are referring to, however a teenager died in 2007 after jumping off a bridge while under influence[0]. As per the article, that was the catalyst for getting hallucinogenic mushrooms banned.

- brokenmachine 6y agoThanks. Imagine the outrage if alcohol caused the death of a single person... Oh, wait. In my high school someone literally did get drunk and die from jumping off a bridge. Astonishingly Australia didn't ban beer after that.
