Show HN: JGen – Text-based journal generator
- hbroadbent 6y agoHey HN, quickly threw this together over a couple of nights. I like to use a simple text file as a journal, I put this together to automatically generate properly dated entries. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
- nicbou 6y agoI love the idea of using plain text with simple formats, but I always end up with the same problem: they're unusable on mobile devices. When I'm travelling, I'm too tired to take out my laptop. If I wait until I'm on the computer, I mist recall thoughts a day or two late, after the details faded and the emotions evaporated. Instead, I just write a few lines on Google Keep during lunch or dinner. It leads to much richer journals. Currently, I use Markdown and a little widget on my timeline thing: https://github.com/nicbou/timeline https://github.com/nicbou/timeline
- hbroadbent 6y agoJust saw this - yeah that's fair enough, I generally just dump notes into the IOS notes app, and most of the time never go back to bring them into my journal. Not sure how to bridge that divide. Timeline looks like a really cool project!
