I bought my dad a kettle from Tesco 5 years ago for £5. He uses it daily and it still works. Re scaling, he uses bottled water (which may upset some people, I'm sorry) but you can buy 5 ltr bottles for £1 and you get no scaling at all. His kettle inside is as good as new. inside.
