I was once on the receiving end of such interaction. It was a very chilling experience, but the already mutilated organization took on this new kind of mutilation and survived anyway. Just made it a tad more soulless than before. > This was a temporary job. It ended and I went back to being a software developer. In reflection I was only moderately successful. A complete match. I guess a minimal advice I can give is this. It's okay to be a boss. It's okay to write an app after two weeks in its domain. Just don't do both at the same time. Don't make your people to come to the same place for (1) a raise and (2) a complaint over bad UX of your own brainchild.
