I don't speak for the author, but I'd wager that his existing fleet of hardware is the reason, especially the new machine he was complaining about. He can install Windows on that machine and it will probably Just Work. If he were setting out to buy a new machine and was choosing between one with Windows and one with OX X, he might make a different decision.
