- naringas 6y agoso empty space on a galactic scale might have measurable weight?? emtpy space does have energy and energy equals mass
- ChuckMcM 6y agoBasically, yes. But what it is really doing is "dragging" the space time frame of reference around. An analogy that might be applicable; Let's say you were pulling on a rope, and someone else was providing a counter pull. You would feel a force F pulling against you on the rope. Now if someone started pulling on the rug that the other person was standing on away from you, you would feel a force F' which felt stronger than the force you felt when no one was pulling the rug. If I understand the concept of graviomagnetism as presented in the paper correctly (and there is certainly a big possibility that I do not!) then the motion of mass through spacetime creates a gravity field like the wake of a boat through water. And presumably this is a source of gravity waves when two black holes are orbiting each other.
