VScode Pets
- chrisco255 6y agoThis is why it's dangerous to build developer productivity tools on top of a web stack. Note: This is sarcasm. I like VSCode and hackable platforms!
- nicklecompte 6y agoIf the creator of VSCode Pets truly wants to embrace the goofy-90's-desktop-toy aesthetic, they should add a "Boss Button" that immediately hides the dogs and replaces it with a complicated-looking fake YAML.
- type0 6y agoCan you feed it? will evolve into full blown tamagochi version, and then games... like from the Flash times, do you need those?
- savanaly 6y agoWhat I want is for them to respond to things I do in the editor...writing code and removing code and so on. It could either be canned animations randomly generated in responses to actions or something deeper, like you said with tamagochi, they could get bigger or healthier when you do those things.
- kevdev 6y agoSo.... can I get a Clippy pet?
- WalterGR 6y ago“Puts a small, bored cat, an enthusiastic dog, a feisty snake, or Clippy in your code editor.”
- prepend 6y agoI want to live in a world where the VSCode dev team saw GP’s request, liked it, implemented it, updated the blog post. I like that world better than the one where I read half the first sentence and post a comment before finishing. The act of collaborating is higher prioritized in my brain than learning.
- bitwize 6y agoIt reminds me of Dogz/Catz, those 90s desktop virtual pets. It also reminds me of Vigor, which was vi with Clippy.
- vortegne 6y agoThis is stupid and I love it
- sergiomattei 6y agoThis is so cool! I love it!
- nazgulsenpai 6y agoAnyone out there remember esheep? :)
- jsrcout 6y agoShades of neko [0] - a ridiculous amount of cuteness using a minimalist approach. I approve. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neko_(software) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neko_(software)
- kristianov 6y agoI fear the eventual and inevitable cryptokitties integration.
