This just illustrates why it's a misunderstanding that banks - because they have to deal with money - are somehow better at tech or are more secure.
Since it isn't actually how they make money, it turns out they're markedly worse at it.

- kevincox 6y agoEvery time a company advertises "bank-grade security" it lowers the bar in my mind. I guess the layperson thinks that banks have good technology but their security is mostly via the legal system.

It's why I hope we eventually replace them with some cryptocurrency (math) based currency that cuts them out of the loop. They're parasites on society.
