TinySeed raises $25M to back more bootstrapped startups
- limedaring 6y agoProgram Director here — we're over the moon about the raise and excited about backing 100+ startups over the next three years. Happy to answer any questions folks have about the program.
- jb1991 6y agoSounds nice! What level of funding you typically provide and what kind of business do you seek out?
- limedaring 6y agoWe invest $120k + $60k per founder and work with SaaS specifically (with most investments in B2B SaaS). A narrow focus means we’re able to tailor our mentor roster and program and provide more actionable and relevant advice. More info: https://tinyseed.com/faq https://tinyseed.com/faq
- ericb 6y agoWill TinySeed fund companies that compete directly with each other in different batches?
- limedaring 6y agoProbably, but we’d need to talk with the founders first. Hard to say without knowing the business/field, but we definitely anticipate competitors across batches as we’re growing quickly.
- nojvek 6y agoCan I invest in Tinyseed a tiny amount <100k? Which ends up going to fund startups? I have one Bitcoin and I’d rather invest it in startups creating value for the world.
- limedaring 6y agoI wish, but unfortunately we’re constrained by a limit of 99 investors in a fund - see this post we wrote: https://tinyseed.com/latest/99-investor-problem https://tinyseed.com/latest/99-investor-problem We may have limited spots at $150k left (our minimum is normally $250k) - if you’re still interested, fill out the form at https://tinyseed.com/invest https://tinyseed.com/invest
- daolf 6y agoWe joined TinySeed last year as part of batch 2 and it was easily the best decision we've made regarding the business. The money, advice, community and mentorship we got those last 10 months were definitely worth it.
- nmfisher 6y agoCan you give a rough outline of how mature you were when you joined, and what the terms were?
- daolf 6y agoHey, When we applied we were at around $1k4 MRR, when we joined, $3k MRR. Terms we had were close to what is published on their website. 10-15% equity for ~$150k. Here's a little thread I made that goes into the details: https://twitter.com/PierreDeWulf/status/1346890035493265411 https://twitter.com/PierreDeWulf/status/1346890035493265411
- derrickreimer 6y agoWe're a Batch 1 company and I can attest to the quality of the program. The cash is nice, but the real value is in the community and extensive mentorship network! Stoked to see TinySeed becoming a compelling investment vehicle.
- Cilvic 6y agoIs it me, or is the article not linking to the tinyseed home page?
- atom_arranger 6y agoA bit funny that if they back a startup the startup isn't bootstrapped anymore.
- gmanis 6y agoGreat job. I have been following TinySeed for a while and I am really glad to read up on their investment thesis and terms. Hopefully, once my project gets sustainable revenue, I’ll definitely apply and love to be a part of the group.
- ganeshkrishnan 6y agoIndie.vc shutting down is news to me. Did their model not work out?
