The way I'm addressing the problem for this solution is by having an OS-level / window-manager keystroke to open a new Chrome tab with Google Calendar URL. For example, you can accomplish this by adding following lines to your i3wm config: bindsym $mod+F1 exec google-chrome "https://www.google.com/calendar/render" bindsym $mod+Shift+F1 exec google-chrome --new-window "https://www.google.com/calendar/render"
