Could be they overzealously blocked a load of things that could be used to cheat on exams (a REPL can be used as a calculator). Never attribute to malice etc.

Could be they overzealously blocked a load of things that could be used to cheat on exams (a REPL can be used as a calculator). Never attribute to malice etc. Not saying it’s right but I think it’s unlikely there’s some nefarious current in teaching to stop kids learning to program.
