Air Pollution Kills Far More People Than Covid Ever Will
- airhead969 6y agoIt's a false narrative to discount Covid because X kills more people because it's comparing apples and oranges. Both kill large numbers of people. One is directly preventable through active compliance measures, while the other is indirectly preventable with pollution controls. PS: I too escaped the Bay Area for Austin.
- jfengel 6y agoI feel like the headline should be read as "We took measures to prevent a lot of deaths from COVID. Now let's take measures to prevent a lot of deaths from air pollution." The problem with preventatives is that if they work, people opposed to them will claim it proves they weren't necessary. You'd think that would be harder with COVID, where we really did get to do natural experiments. And while they're noisy rather than controlled, they sure seem to indicate that places that took real steps did better than places that took half-measures or less.
