Also, technically speaking, what you've constructed is a fallacy. When something like what you described happens, nobody's going to use "but you were okay with not-this before, therefore you must be okay with this new thing!" I'll march into Best Buy right with you when I can't turn it off, but as long as I can, I'm probably just going to do that and move on with my life.

I'm not saying you'd be okay with it, in fact I think your view is pretty reasonable. Personally I want to stop this sort of thing from being on by default, personalized tracking on nearly every TV, etc.
