Youtube at least started forcing news on everyone last year. It was really obvious for me since I never watched news on youtube. There would be two or three rows of normal stuff and then a "covid/politics" row full of CNN/CNBC/BBC/whatever saying the world is ending. I've solved the problem personally by blocking youtube and now I have more time for my girlfriend and side projects.
