Where do we have tech docs for OSS projects
Looks like many popular OSS projects just have contribute.md on how to clone, commit and push on fork and make PR. that is not enough to contribute. Not always users of software comes to contribute or experts. In enterprise projects we either have people to give KT or docs to refer. In OSS we don't have both. I understand documenting everything is overhead but we need minimum guide to start on working on new software. Contributing.md is not enough for contribution. hope people understand this.
- the_only_law 6y agoYeah I feel your frustration. I recently tried to get drivers for two similar pieces of niche hardware. Both had open source drivers, neither had very good docs. Luckily one of the vendors was actually committed to open source (the entire product was open source form the hardware to the driver) and I was able to reach out and get it working.
