The trains reach a cruising speed of about 300 kilometres per hour The situation in India is truly deplorable. Stones pelted [1] at trains going that fast will be devastating to passengers. And the passengers [2] are not all that great either. Now for my usual refrain: we have to fix the law and order situation before we talk about all this fancy stuff. Generally, as a culture, I see too little regard to private and public property. Public buses are burnt, trains are blocked, buildings vandalized, and so on, even though whatever was destroyed has nothing to do with the issue behind the protest. Nearly all political parties encourage such behaviour too. Anyway, the government's level of regard for their citizens' lives is something India and China have in common.
