I tend to agree, and don't think this would make sense for super small conversations. I'm considering the larger groups, and also a foundational shift that could completely replace the likes of facebook groups. It would no longer be a deeply simple chat, but from my observations the mental gymnastics required to understand large group chats (500+ users) are no longer simple either. I don't think the other methods should entirely disappear, but perhaps there are some use-cases that would be better-suited using this method.
