    Because culturally the world (At least the western world) has the complete opposite attitude. Feelings are more important than facts to many people nowadays.

        From what I've perceived it seems like in general it harms discourse more than it helps.

          From my observations it appears to be incredibly corrosive socially. The scale of the damage it is doing in western society at the moment will need books, not chapters, dedicated to it in the future.
