That's a false dichotomy. I think bitcoin is genuinely hated, just like a lot of people and technology are hated. It doesn't necessarily come from an analysis of bitcoin, whether rational or irrational. And it doesn't necessarily come from people who are upset because they think they are too late to make money from bitcoin.
