- pso 6y agoI nominate this essay, as Paul Graham's least controversial. Perhaps, someone who works with or in the non-profit sector could provide a counterpoint.

- shafyy 6y agoInteresting how Paul's essay make it instantly to the first page, even with only 4 upvotes in 42 minutes and even though the same thing was on the front page one or two days ago. Not saying there's some kind of bias in the ranking algorithm, but there definitely not isn't one.
- tormeh 6y agoSame as with the YC hiring posts. This is YC's prerogative, though.
- shafyy 6y agoWith hiring posts and launch posts they are open and upfront about it at least.
- derwiki 6y agoIs it as plausible that everything posted by pg gets quickly upvoted by people on name recognition?
- shafyy 6y agoSure, but this post had 4 upvotes in 42min when I commented. That shouldn't be enough to get to the first page.
- fabiofzero 6y agoThis is a joke right? Everyone knows most non-profits are just a way to dodge taxes by funneling it from James Richperson Foundation to James Richperson's shell companies. Damn right large donations should be restricted and used very specifically for what they were meant for.
