That's pretty cool. I believe that Rust is the future of systems programming. Has someone tried to use the Rust coreutils on Nix OS?

- sylvestre 6y agoThere is a package for nix: https://gitlab.tryp.io/nix/nixpkgs/-/tree/bodhi/pkgs/tools/misc/uutils-coreutils https://gitlab.tryp.io/nix/nixpkgs/-/tree/bodhi/pkgs/tools/m... (but not up to date)
- siraben 6y agoI went to check[0] who was the maintainer for uutils-coreutils on Nixpkgs, and realized it was me! Thanks for the reminder, will push a PR update. [0] https://repology.org/project/uutils-coreutils/versions https://repology.org/project/uutils-coreutils/versions
- siraben 6y agoUpdate has been pushed and merged, will show up in the binary caches within the next few days :)
- PoignardAzur 6y agoWell that's a kind of forgetfulness I hadn't seen before =P
- siraben 6y agoThey are in Nixpkgs, presumably it would just be a matter of replacing coreutils in the stdenv[0] with uutils, then attempting to build, say, Firefox with the new stdenv.
