I feel this way whenever I watch YouTube streams with live chat. It’s unwatchable. Unlike Twitch, the chat is an overlay on the video (not sure if that’s true everywhere or not). I’m positive some designer made a really beautiful looking still image without thinking of what it might be like to follow a chat (or watch a video) in this way. I’m quite positive this is a byproduct of the product->design->engineering waterfall, because while we say we are agile, nothing really gets iterated on once an engineer starts coding. If it isn’t caught in the wireframe phase, it’ll take a redesign to address.
