Silicon Valley Stays on Top as Tech Salaries Climb Across U.S.
- chovybizzass 6y agohousing is getting rediculous. moving to Nebraska + upgrading internet
- WalterGR 6y agoWhere in Nebraska and what type of internet connection?
- chovybizzass 6y agoI'm not sure yet.
- seattle_spring 6y agoAm I the only person that sees graphs like this and thinks, "wow that's several times lower than I would have expected"?
- tfehring 6y agoNo you're not. It doesn't seem that far off for Minneapolis, the metro I'm most familiar with, but the fact that the premiums for Silicon Valley and Seattle are only ~20% and ~4% respectively seems suspect. Maybe high-paying companies in tech hubs just don't use Dice, which apparently provided the data for this?
- kerbs 6y agoI think Minneapolis seems low, but with these reports I always assume there is some lower tier in the market the typical HN crowd would never be exposed to that is driving down the averages. I mean those “Urgent!” recruiting emails have to be filled by someone right?
- babycake 6y agoThose numbers are pretty close to what I've seen from colleagues who share their salaries with me (those who are not from FAANG, or top tier companies). That's the feeling I get too, most software salaries aren't that high.
- jandrewrogers 6y agoIt appears to be salary and not total compensation, hence the large discrepancy. For a couple listed specialties I have pretty good visibility across the primary companies hiring in those areas and the average is probably closer to 2x here.
- EdwinLarkin 6y agoJust $90k means you earn more than most devs in Europe on average.
