Ask HN: I am only reading highly cited works, regardless of domain. Opinions?

Hi everyone, around last year i started a collection of highly cited works(books and journal articles). I’ve advanced my collection with around 600 items that i want to read and it’s increasing with around 2 items weekly. The point is to get through a lot of fundamental work that has pushed a field further, paradigm change(The structure of scientific revolutions) and expand my understanding through the eyes of these works. In the past year i went through a few books and a few dozen papers, while taking notes, learning and just thinking. At the same time, i used some open source software to build a search engine of the ebooks (>90% of my collection) and whenever i’m looking for a concept, i can read through the results from my selected sources to get a better understanding of the concept and obviously, context. I tried to google a similar effort, but i did not find anything. Hoping to get at least near the front page to get a lot of inputs from as many perspectives i can get. Thanks for reading
