In Response to “Euler's FizzBuzz”
- ksaj 6y agoThis is the first time I connected FizzBuzz with playing cards. In the section titled "Groups, Rings, Fields, Oh my!" there are the mod demonstrations with the clocks. A lot of mathematical card tricks play with the fact that a deck of cards, when cut, behaves exactly like a circular buffer. Cutting the deck is simply moving your starting point. The order is still the same. The math is the same. And the results in the magic tricks are what you'd expect from using a circular buffer. Cardists typically don't know or think about the math involved. And they definitely don't think of circular buffers. But they do visualize a deck of cards in a way that isn't unlike an analog clock, but with 52 seconds in each minute.
