Instead of transplanting brains, if we could format/update the brain OTA, we could prevent a lot of morbidity and recovery time associated with surgeries. All we will need is bodies to act as hosts for these memories/brain updates.
- mynegation 6y agoSo, Altered Carbon?
- anoncow 6y agoYes. And season 1 at that.
- f6v 6y agoYou’d need to manufacture bodies first, since the ones we have aren’t supposed to work beyond 80-90 years, on average.
- anoncow 6y agoIf memories and by extension consciousness can be transplanted, will mushy bodies matter? We already have capabilities to manufacture robots.
- f6v 6y agoAbility to experience pleasure matters. Among other things, our brains evolved to receive and process vast amounts of sensory inputs.
- woutr_be 6y agoThe whole concept is that you can transfer your stack (a digital version of your consciousness) between bodies. The show does touch on the issues of bodies, rich people can just buy them. Anyone else essentially has to wait for whatever body becomes available.
