IPC 498A is probably the most fraudulently applied law these days, along with other similar laws that Maneka Gandhi and her fellow animal rights exploit activists to target men. Knowing how poor the police investigations are, such scams are easy to pull off. Google "Maneka Gandhi Ramlingam" if you want an example. The audio is easy to find too. Besides, the police can make you admit to whatever crime they want.
