Does the US have jurisdiction here or is the Southern District just playing Team America World Police again? Is using Twitter the new precedent for being ensnared by the American legal system?
- filoleg 6y ago>Is using Twitter the new precedent for being ensnared by the American legal system? No, but intentionally not paying tons of taxes you are required to pay is something that will definitely put your head on the table. If IRS managed to get Al Capone back then, getting McAfee for it should be fairly trivial.
- JumpCrisscross 6y ago> Does the US have jurisdiction here He was detained on tax evasion charges. So yes, the U.S. has pretty uncontroversial jurisdiction over taxes owed to it.
- driverdan 6y agoAssuming he's still a US citizen then US laws apply regardless of where he is. Just because he's outside the US doesn't mean he can break US laws.
- pcwalton 6y agoIf you use services located in the US to defraud Americans, the US can come after you. There is nothing wrong with this. If I were a victim of such a fraud, I would certainly want the US to go after the perpetrator.
