Have you read the manifesto? The whole point of agile is to continuously adapt the process to fit your team. Following SCRUM to the letter is exactly the thing

The scrum framework is fairly rigid (three roles, five events, three artifacts), and I do not remember whether it allows for much flexibility (one role instead of three, two events instead of five, two artifacts instead of three, that kind of thing).
