Daily standups seem to work ok for operations teams like SRE.
I find it is the human equivalent of alerting and observability.
SCRUM/AGILE/whatever for development and product teams is a red flag for me. I find that bi-weekly demo days seem to set a better culture and pace for things without the constant oversight.
Sprinkle in some weekly "forums" across teams to chat, BS, and discuss issues. Invite people to bring their agenda questions, concerns, etc.
The biggest thing (especially in remote) is that all your humans have visibility to the other humans in a semi-consistent basis. The org-chart matters.
