It works well when the team take ownership of the process and treat it as tricks for forcing the sorts of communication that needs to happen but usually doesn't just happen.
Estimation? It's about communication.
Standups? Communication.
Grooming? It's communication.
Retrospectives? Communication.
All the bits are intended to foster communicating different issues that ought to be discussed.
- peanutz454 6y agoThis is a really good way to sum it up. Even Story Points are supposed to be about adding communication to estimation. It is supposed to be collaborative, but people take it wrong and I have seen SCRUM master doing it :D
- jbothma 6y agoPlanning poker is the best thing in the whole world. Nit because it gives accurate estimations. Because the conversation that comes out of a 1 vs 8 are so revealing!
