In my org dailies are mostly helpful and not a reporting tool. We work in project teams for our customers and are about 300 people.
Also our agile approaches mostly work out well, but our whole organization is structured in a way that facilitates this.
We have only 2 levels of hierarchy and crossfunctional groups for arbitrary topics like "wage transparency", "consulting" or "technology". Anyone interested can take part in those and they get some budget too.
Every few weeks there are townhalls where economic development is reported by the executives to the rest of the company and anyone can ask questions. Since covid we do this via google meet with great success.
All in all agile approaches only truly work if acceptance from the higher ups is high. If agile is just used to get tighter deadlines out of devs it is actively harmful.
