DigitalOcean Launches Premium Droplets with AMD EYPC CPUs and NVMe SSDs
- lioeters 6y agoAbout the pricing, from what I could see in their "Create Droplets" page, it costs about 20% more. For example, regular Intel with SSD (4 GB RAM, 2 CPUs, 80 GB SSD, 4 TB transfer) is $20 / month. Equivalent with premium Intel and NVMe SSD is $24 / month.
- posguy 6y agoHow do these Premium Droplets stack up against CPU-Optimized droplets? At SFO2 the $130 a month CPU-Optimized droplet I was forced to upgrade to has a slow Xeon Gold 6140 CPU, I only upgraded as CPU steal was consistently above 20% even after stopping all services on the VM, and DigitalOcean support was useless (24+hrs to respond to the ticket or any updates thereafter). I was about to kill this CPU-Optimized and move over to Linode (already moved Gitlab and a few other resources since they have a written CPU steal policy unlike DO), but these new VMs might be worth a spin.
