- yesenadam 6y agoAlso where Miles Davis was attacked by police a few months after recording Kind of Blue in 1959. He was standing outside smoking while his band was playing there, a cop asked him to move on, he refused. Then the cop "[pounded] him repeatedly on the head with his nightstick". Pics of him covered in blood: https://milestones-a-miles-davis-archive.tumblr.com/post/127549337187/during-a-gig-at-birdland-in-new-york-on-august-25 https://milestones-a-miles-davis-archive.tumblr.com/post/127...
- tssva 6y agoThe actions of that cop were horrific and inexcusable. No one deserves to be treated in that manner including Miles Davis's wives and girlfriends whom he publicly bragged about treating in a similar manner when he thought they got out of line.

- iddan 6y agoI go to a jazz club in every trip abroad. And though I’ve been to numerous great jazz concerts in Europe Birdland has topped them all. There is a real sense of history and lush there. I hope the next time I get to NYC it will still exist
