Classical MS move: spending more efforts on competing technologies than on their own (in this case dotnet).
- mikece 6y agoEven Microsoft realize that Xamarin is not a tool for serious mobile or desktop development. Sure, you can get apps that work but they are 2.5x larger than if you had written them in Java or Kotlin and offer no more features than if you had done a hybrid mobile app with Ionic instead. Everyone thought Microsoft acquired Xamarin for the mobile dev tooling? No: it was the only way they could get the brain trust and the core Mono team at Xamarin to come work for them.
- lostmsu 6y agoThat would not be a problem, if you could publish a shared runtime in Google Play. Phones are still really bad platform.
