Show HN: Physically realistic foam on water. Supercomputer simulation [video]
We did a simulation of foam on water [1]
using the open-source solver Aphros [2]
and visualized using ParaView with the Intel OSPRay backend for path tracing.
It took 20 hours on 14000 cores of the Piz Daint supercomputer.

- pkarnakov 6y agoThis simulation is called a "Foaming waterfall". The waterfall captures air bubbles that rise to the surface and create foam. Similar effects are observed in oceans covered with foam generated by breaking waves. Our paper [3] describes the algorithm and contains more applications of this software stack. An online widget [4] shows the algorithm in two dimensions.
