Eh. Most Excel horror stories have to do with putting it "into production". Excel is really a prototyping tool -- and it has enabled countless millions upon millions that were just not going to read SICP (and get all stakeholders to read SICP) to attack business problems. Now, if programmers are unable to understand the logic behind Excel models to "productionize it", then we have a problem with the education of programmers.
