My personal policy is that if an extension doesn't have a very limited scope (for example adblockers that need full access to everything), it has to be open source and I'll install it from source to control when extensions are updated.
- ChrisLTD 6y agoThe only adblocker I’ll install is Privacy Badger from EFF. If the EFF starts injecting malware, I think I’ll go ahead and stop using the internet and move to a cabin in the woods.
- Mediterraneo10 6y agoPrivacy Badger isn’t an adblocker but an anti-tracker. Even the developers of Privacy Badger probably assume that you will be running their plugin alongside uBlock Origin.
- ChrisLTD 6y agoTrue, but since most ads are also trackers, it does a decent enough job for me.
- blacksmith_tb 6y agoDNS-based adblocking (like Pihole, NextDNS etc.) works well in this scenario, nothing installed locally.
- inter_netuser 6y agodo you use it? how's the success rate so far? lots of web properties now serve ads from origin, blockindg dns might not help with that?
