It should also be pointed out that it hasn’t officially been called the “Coon Carnival” in many years since “coon” is in fact a racist slur in South Africa, despite McNeil’s insinuation that it’s just an American thing.
- kelnos 6y agoI don't think McNeil claimed that "coon" was only offensive in America. Just that Americans found the entire carnival offensive. > It should also be pointed out that it hasn’t officially been called the “Coon Carnival” in many years McNeil himself points this out once or twice in his posts.
