- ksec 6y agoNormally if you open that iPhone Storage Screen for longer, let it run in those background checks, those "Others" should unfold into something else. You could also try to leave that screen on for a few min, close that screen and reopen it again. They are most likely Apps, or Apps cache that wasn't calculated when you first use that screen.
- techer 6y agoI’ve done this, plugged into iTunes, waved a magic wand and all other possible methods. At best it magically frees 10gbs or so. They ran diagnostics and this had to be uploaded through iTunes as well, waiting too long for the results. My phone entered a boot loop when out of memory despite me using less than half of my phone. Lastly, “On my iPhone” has 10gbs that can’t be located anywhere, I deleted all downloads etc. Not a huge deal but it’s a hell of a bug. When I have too much time I’ll have to do a factory reset but I can’t risk it yet. Offloaded many apps, don’t use them too much so not a problem. It must be due to iCloud or just temp files that refuse to leave.
- ksec 6y agoThis seems like an old bug of iCloud I had experience years ago. Where if you had some sort of non-perfect iCloud Backup restore process it would take up so much space for no reason. There is also the iMessage bomb and iCloud Photo bug. But those were a long time ago and I haven't heard about it for years. So yes best to do Factory Reset. And I know it is a pain. I have lots of people around me who just refuse to update apps and iOS anymore. ( But Apple is now actively courting them to do so )
