This is part of a bigger problem: people trust any kind of garbage people post on social media like Facebook and Twitter--instead of relying on traditional media for their news. While there are lots of problems with traditional media, it at least tries to have some quality control. [For example anti-vaccination posts.]
- nightowl_games 6y agoAnd that's why we get so upset when traditional media's quality controls fail. This has been an item of major concern over the past few years for me.
- groone 6y agoI followed the attempted GME short squeeze on reddit and on the traditional news (like Associated Press and all the news sources linked to by yahoo and news section of financial apps). The reporting in traditional media was inaccurate and misleading to the point I doubt that was just poor job at reporting.
