First vaccine to immunize against malaria builds on pandemic-driven RNA tech
- aurizon 6y agoVery good news - I hope the parasite is unable to end run it? Africa has long born a huge burden from this - one might say it is the single disease that has kept them down.
- tim333 6y agoIt's probably going to be tricky for it to end run it as PMIF inhibiting T-cells seems quite a specific thing. Yeah malaria's a big thing in Africa. The Economist had an interesting article for xmas https://www.economist.com/christmas-specials/2020/12/19/how-malaria-has-shaped-humanity https://www.economist.com/christmas-specials/2020/12/19/how-...
- aurizon 6y agoThank you for the reference, a true historical burden...
- Darmody 6y agoRNA is very promising. A person with multiple sclerosis told me after seeing the first COVID vaccine that in the future RNA tech could help her. Not long after I found this: https://www.fiercebiotech.com/research/biontech-ceo-turns-covid-19-vaccine-s-mrna-tech-against-multiple-sclerosis https://www.fiercebiotech.com/research/biontech-ceo-turns-co...
- pmdulaney 6y agoIt is embarrassing to think how much bigger of a story this would be if Europe and the English speaking world had to deal with malaria. I don't say "Shame on us" but a soft groan is appropriate.
