I seem to recall reading it was around $500 million to do in the US, but can’t find where I read that. If true, that seems like a tiny amount for insurance against something like this.
- macintux 6y agoThat's the price tag I've seen before as well, which seems like the kind of investment that should have been made a decade ago. I didn't have the stomach to read more about it, but someone in the DOE(?) in the last administration came up with a plan to improve the grid, but because some portion of that story involved renewable energy (thus lessening the need for coal) it was dropped like a hot potato. (I could have some portion of that wrong; I simply get too depressed reading about that cesspool.)
