When I bought my VW GTI, there was one model above the base, the "Wolfsberg Edition", that didn't have a screen. The controls were straightforward and tactile. I checked recently and that option's gone, which made me a little sad as I wrestled with having to restart CarPlay in our other vehicle to get it to talk to my iPhone.
