I use the following to help diagnose SSL problems:

- erikpukinskis 15y agoYeah, I do seem to be having chain issues. But what exactly those issues are, or how to debug them is not clear to me. I cat'd my chained certificates into my .pem file before I sent it to Heroku. So I'm not skipping that step, although I must be doing it wrong. This is a good example of something that would probably be easier to debug if I was running my own server. Then I could just open up the nginx.conf and make sure things are set right.
- erikpukinskis 15y agoAh, I think I figured it out. I was cat'ing the chained certificates in before stripping the password from the .pem. Needed to do it at the end, just before sending it to Heroku. Frickin' A.
