- akudha 6y agoChartio is going away on March 1, 2022 Sigh. It feels like the entire internet is owned by less than 10 companies. I hate to live in such a monopolistic world
- bretpiatt 6y agoWhere is the quote on "going away" from? I don't see it in the Atlassian blog post now so if it was there they edited to remove. Edit: found ZDNet article stating it https://www.zdnet.com/article/atlassian-acquires-chartio-plans-to-add-data-visualization-to-jira/ https://www.zdnet.com/article/atlassian-acquires-chartio-pla...
- vallas 6y agoThe consequence of industrial cycles (like the 19th century's industrial revolution or today's digital economy) is always triggering progress on socialism; Atlassian acquiring another company is applied Darwinism. At some point, humans will ever die or live in simulations where things go differently.
- fifilura 6y agoChartio manages to make dashboards easy by removing all the proprietary layers and extra UI steps to get to the point. I am not talking about easy as point and click (although I know they are selling that too). Easy for me was to allowing me to focus 99% of my attention on writing the SQL query. Superset has a similar philosophy but is in need of a UX overhaul. It also lacks some seemingly small but very important features that Chartio has. Mainly because in superset the operations are done in python on the already retrieved result.
- Nerks234 6y agoPretty annoying as I’d just got all my dashboards set up and now they cancel my trial, gah!
- allforJesse 6y agoYep, us too. Weeks and weeks of work that'll need to be migrated.
- adamcstephens 6y agoAtlassian has a wide market share because their pricing is relatively cheap and most of the paid competitors suck. It’s not innovative to buy an innovative company/product, if all you’re going to do with it is reinforce your own mediocre products.
