I think even if Twitter made it easier to tag posts as political, the problem remains that so many people feel like their political views belong everywhere, and will actively try and break into other discussions to interject with politics. Like the Expensify guy who thought it was appropriate to email customers and tell them who to vote for. To me it comes back to the trend that people who support a cause treat it as if it has to be a top priority for everyone, and if you don't prioritize the cause in the same way you are actively working against it. And I think this probably is a byproduct of the "attention economy" where there has been an arms race for mindshare (I'd like to find a way to put that better but hopefully it's clear)
