It's easy to laugh at this, but the SEC really wants to regulate the cryptocurrency ecosystem. It's not in government's nature to leave something alone. You may wonder if the SEC has the legal authority to do this. The answer is that it doesn't really matter. All the SEC wants to accomplish is to establish a precedent where it's authority over cryptocurrency is legitimate. All it would take is a judge (who probably doesn't even know that much about crypto) to rule that the SEC is within it's right to do so and then bam! we have crypto regulation forced down everyone's throats.
