I find that very difficult to believe. It flies in the face of everything I have been told about how the markets behave. If cafes double their prices and people's salaries don't double, people won't just get used to the new prices, they stop going to cafes. Such a price increase would capture the interest of economists and academics. I am sure papers and books will be written on it, as well as capturing the attention of the general public and the journalists and having lots of news segments and articles written about it. Could you please try to find some of these and share them with me. I do not know which country we are talking about and unless it is Ireland, I don't speak the language to search the internet on my own.
